Is Tupperware Microwave Safe?

Not every Tupperware product can be microwaved. If it’s made of glass, then it is perfertly safe to put in a microwave. Tupperware plastic is not always safe to microwave. Sometimes they can be. They are usually marked microwave safe or something similar if they can.

How To Tell If Tupperware Is Microwave Safe

So how can you be sure a product is microwave safe and what exactly does it mean? First, it is important to note that microwave safe simply means the product won’t break (or melt). It shouldn’t leak plastic into your food either, but it is still debated if it actually does. Plastic products might leak plastic into your food, depending on the type used, just no enough to be measured. This is not indicated on products. To be completely safe use glass Tupperware. Glass is safe to use in a microwave for example if you are heating water

On their website (and most other places that sell it), you can look at product specifications. This includes if it’s microwave safe, dishwasher safe or has BPA in it. On most, but not all, products that are safe there will be text on the bottom or top indicating it can be used in a microwave.

Even if there is not a text, there might be a Tupperware microwave safe symbol. This is usually a microwave symbol, sometimes with some wavy lines in it. This is used to indicate that the product can be used in a microwave.

Does Tupperware Contain BPA?

All Tupperware products made after 2010 are BPA free. It has been a mission for the company to go completely BPA free. You can therefore feel completely safe if you are buying a new Tupperware product. Instead they are using other materials that are approved by regulators. Please note that they only state this for the USA and it is unclear if it is still the case for other countries.

Is old Tupperware BPA free?

Not all old Tupperware products are BPA free. If they are it is indicated on the packaging or the product specifications if you are buying online. There is not a symbol but it will literally say “BPA free”. The vast majority of their products intended for food are in fact BPA free. Just check the product to be sure.

Can You Put Hot Food In Tupperware

You can put hot food in any Tupperware product that is microwave safe. They will be able to handle the heat and not leak into your food. There are some other products that might be usable but not tested or intended for hot food. Therefore you should stick to the ones that are approved for it.

Are Tupperware Lunch Boxes Microwave Safe?

Most of Tupperware lunch boxes are not microwave safe. The Lunch-It, Salad On the Go and Sandwich Keepers are not safe for microwaves. If you are looking for a lunchbox that can be reheated then look for their Hot Food On the Go set. The CrystalWave lunch containers are also safe. They can be microwaved on medium, which is enough to heat your food, but not to be used for cooking.

Are Tupperware Plates Microwave Safe?

Yes, Tupperware Luncheon Plates are in fact microwave safe. They are also dishwasher safe and BPA free. The plates are also designed so you don’t burn yourself after microwaving it. The plates have a rim that stays cool so you can pick up the plate without worrying.

Are Tupperware Bowls Microwave Safe?

Tupperware has many products that can be used as bowls, but are in fact containers. There you have many options that are microwave safe. Their bowls like the Ideal Lit’l Bowls are not microwave safe though. They are intended to be used with cold food.
