How to store durian
The best way to store durian is to wrap them in a plastic zipper bag and refrigerate it. The refrigerated Durians can last up to 5 days. It is better to freeze it as it increases longevity and prevents contaminating other food.
Another way is to store them in an airtight container with no moisture in it. You can also store it by taking out its pulp and then refrigerating the flesh. The refrigerated pulp can last for about 3-4 days.
How to tell if durian has gone bad
If the durian smells bad or sour, it shouldn’t be consumed. Apart from this, if the stalks of durian look dry or withered, they should also not be eaten. Rotten durian smells like rotten eggs and vinegar. Another sign is that if the skin is cracked and the flesh feels watery.
